Secondary School
My love for the media and film industry began during secondary school. This was a time when I was introduced to the practical side of hands-on filmmaking and the intricacies of media theory for the very first time. Both sides of my media course were the roots of my passion today. Another skill that I learnt was that of Video and Photo editing, which was vital to my studies but also became a massive part of my free time, as I started to teach myself more complex knowledge outside of what was taught. I knew that from my time there, a place in the Media industry was perfect for me.
Sixth Form
In Sixth form, my passion for the film industry bloomed and I began to work on my first major projects. Media Studies continued to teach me new and intriguing ideas in the field of media theory and enriched my understanding of film composition, camerawork, the importance of lighting and more. This was a key time for me to practice and learn from my mistakes in older projects and those which I made as I went through the course. My greater understanding of media theory paired with my other subject choices of sociology and history laid a valuable groundwork for my current projects and broadened my knowledge of important factors in filmmaking such as audiences, contexts and budget. My studies at Sixth Form transitioned my passions into projects and have made me thoroughly determined to earn a place in the Media Industry.
